ID this petrol tank

dont know whether this is the correct place - recently purchased of ebay.. its large and fits a mid 50s twin but it has a sprung saddle cut out with a plate that screws to it and the knee pads have a flair in wards - badge screw holes are maybe 2 inches apart

cou;d it be an A10 tank with an AJS knee pad on it?

My best guess is 1953 AJS one year only.

If sales cat pictures are compared, it appears a bigger tank was fitted on the 500 twin when that was first introduced.

ah.. interesting -its enormous - youd think it for a prewar v twin.. cant seem to upload anymore pics.. the fuel tap bosses are semi spherical and the tanke bolt holes like up with my 55nnn frame (the one with the odd ovoid polo airbox thingy on the seat tube

also the petrol cap is slightly offset to the right hand side by about an 1 1/4 inch - it looks like the 1955 model 20 tank in terms of bulk and flair out from the knee rubbers (almost enfield like) but the chrome ones Ive seen have the petrol cap dead centre... ho hum...
