I'm familiar with blanks suppliers (Sprockets Unlimited and The Chain Man etc.) but it's just possible that other marques used exactly or almost exactly the same design of sprocket. I believe some bike manufacturers (AMC?) bought in standard rear hubs from specialist hub manufacturers and would have used sprockets compatible with the bought-in hubs. Or not. Just a thought.

Stuart is quite right, the cost of manufacture is very high, this is just my guess on it...........

Plate wheel sprockets are off the shelf. £25 to £30 each, club to free issue ten sprockets to trade shop

Trade shop costs per sprocket
Holes on PCD plus chamfer both sides. £5
Bore out centre to size and break edge £20

Fixture costing £100 incl material divided between 10 sprockets is £10
That is £35 pound a sprocket plus what trade shop think they may get away with so it could end up as £45

So total is between £60 and £75 to club spares and then they mark it up to around £70 or £85 and on top of that there is VAT to pay by the club member

Spriddler is right about other makes - the Norton Jubilee has the same rear hub and 55 tooth sprocket, unless I'm mistaken. All 350 and 250 lightweights, apart from the CS (different hub) and the last of the 250 CSRs (56 tooth sprockets), all had 55 tooth sprockets. I think the Norton Navigator and some of the larger FB/James models had a similar sprocket but with a different number of teeth.

It's odd isn't it. My '64 CSR had a 54 tooth sprocket on when I got it. Page 103 of the 1957-196? workshop manual says that the '63-'64 CSRs had 54 teeth so presumably the first owner had it made to match that information. I know the two owners between the OP and me didn't do it as neither had a manual, unless it was a coincidence.

Can you provide a link to a supplier and reference for the Norton sprocket that matches ours?

Hmm, well being stormbound and bored I've looked on the Norton and the FB Owners Clubs websites and spares lists, plus the 'Andover Norton' the 'Norvil' and the 'Villiers' websites. None list rear sprockets at all except Norvil who have a couple for G15, G80 and P11 (at c.£70 each plus vat) and Villiers who sell blanks made by 'Talon'.
It would seem that we were lucky to have any at all at our spares dep't. and I assume that Norton/FB owners buy blanks and have them finished themselves. Or not..........
(I searched using the keywwords 'rear sprocket' and also with the part number 043291 which I assume is the one wanted).

May be a silly question but can we not go back the company that made the last batch with a new order but get them corrected.

As Jas has stated there is a project in hand to get some made,
The supplier of the previous faulty batch is no longer trading.

Just looked at the NOC spares list. They have new 250 Jubilee 55 tooth sprockets for on sale at £17.40. Would be worth making contact and find out their supplier? According to the NOC spares list, early Jubilees had 55 teeth sprockets and the later ones 53 teeth.
