Now the side of the bike can be seen. The auctioneers had no idea what they were selling. Nothing at all there 1927. The forks with round tubes are 1929 or later. The frame rear end was 500 or over. You can now see an oil tank. 1929 was the first year for that. prior to 29 AJS had the flat looking petrol and oil tank combined. What we clearly see now is the new frame introduced in 1930. So 1930 or later 500 or over. I'll not bother looking any further. The number would have told me exactly what year and model the bike was. As I recently discover all Wolverhampton AJS numbers supplied by the factory up to early 1930.( That was the item publication date of the numbers discovered. Which also covered most marques, cars and bikes.) Only have some of the batch numbers from 1930 /1932 after which Matchless took over AJS. I think perhaps the buyer may have known what he was buying and got a real bargain. The person may have spotted if those engine plates were 500 single or v twin. Front brake looks like 500 or over A rolling chassis well worth 400 euro's extra bonus if v twin.

Ive been told it made €400

1929 onwards 500 or over was close, but now see its actually 1930 onwards, some under 500 models 1930 onwards did have 3 rear frame rails.

Just going to put it storage for a few years and it should be fine.
