As an Engineer we design to work - not "make do" as this assembly has been constructed as. The unit as a whole looks to have been designed by a 4 year old.
Back to issue - having now heard quite a few of these run the whole noise that is generated by the loose clutch assembly is definetly not normal nor should it be accepted as such. No engine should sound like a bag of spanners in a tumble dryer! Then there is another couple of guys and their sound exactly like that. When you have 0.5mm free play in a rotating assebly that wobbles at many thousand rpm - would you accept that as normal?
I am not trying to build a better mousetrap - just get it to run as it should and that is wihtour 95% of the freeplay and no noise. It will get done and done right this time.
