G50 Question

I did my best to search the site to see if this question had been answered before....my apologies if I missed it.

I am in search of factory or club records on the Matchless G50, as I am looking at one for sale here in the U.S. When I contacted this club's dating/records service, I was told that there were no records in their archives for G50's. However, back in 2013 when I was at the Las Vegas Bonham's auction, a G50 sold (chassis and engine # 1784), and the auction listing said that it had matching numbers "...as confirmed by Matchless club records", and it also included a fair amount of documented race history supposedly sourced from the same place.

And, to completely expose my AJS/Matchless ignorance, I have a related question: I know that frame, engine and transmission numbering varies from manufacturer to manufacturer (e.g. Norton and Vincent are completely different), but on the G50, should the transmission, engine and frame/chassis have the same 4 digit suffix?

Thanks,

T

No, the frame, engine and gear box will not all have the same number.
