hello,
i am trying to take off the chrome covers on my '53 AJS 500 twin( to rechrome them). i assume they screw into the fork lowers.i have tried strap wrentches and they will not budge them. any clues on how to get them apart?

Heat the fork leg gently. If they have been on for years the steel and alluminum will have corroded together.

New covers are available for about the same cost as chroming in the UK, for me it was a 'no brainer' buy new - especially as one cover was a little reluctant to unscrew:
'C' spanner got it in the end
