Help please, I can't get the forks quite back into the top yoke after seal refurb.
What is the thread in the top of fork so I can make a puller. 1 1/4 leg 1955 G3ls

Alternatively does anyone have a poor condition top yoke nut 021830 that I can turn down the flats and drill and tap the centre to create a puller?

Or a good condition nut so I can turn down my average condition nut.

Cheers
Mark

These are not 1955 . 1955 was the only year that had the snap on chrome domes to cover fork nuts. Which would have had a tapered washer underneath them, on which the dome's snapped on to. Don't forget to make sure the little pinhole vent on the bottom edge is clear before fitting them. Trapped air will eventually cause them to pop off, usually on the first run after fitting them. I always clean even new ones before fitting, as chrome can sometimes partly block the hole.

Thanks Rob
I've had a look and eBay seem to be for a 57
I presume thread size is the same so I could turn off the dome and slide down top yoke far enough to thread into top of fork leg and pull up as required.
Cheers

Mark, I have just made a fork puller for the 1 1/4 forks stanchions and the thread is 20 tpi. I do not know if the thread angle is 55 or 60 degrees, but for the purposes of a puller it doesn't matter. Don't know where you live but I'm in Berkshire if you want to borrow it. Andy

if you have a ratchet strop this is a quick fix to compress the the fork so no need for a puller
