Probably an age related number unless it came from the Isle of Bute

USJ reg. no.was issued after 1995. I do not have literature past that date to check. Perhaps your bikes documents state the first registered ???? declared manufactured ???? You will then know when it was restored, built from bits or whatever and re registered.
Club Dating Officer may be able to Date the frame perhaps other details of history.
You may consider joining the club first. Then you get members rates applied for dating history. Plus of cause a full year of full club benefits you may find usefull, also make savings. Some do not and end up paying dearly for mistakes.

M301957, There was a discussion on the forum when this bike came up on e-bay, I believe it was built by founding member of the club, John Trant from Yorkshire, a user by the name of ZWARTS will be able to tell you how heavy it is to carry down from an attic.

Thanks one and all for taking the time to reply.

Yes I am aware from the registration document that this machine was registered with its current number plate on 01/11/98 and that the said J Trant was the owner at the time.

Am intrigued but the loft rebuild and hope to hear more..........

Hi Rob
I joined the club a day before I purchased the bike am there as 1957M30,
Couldn't seem to use that name here on the forum though.

Looking forward to meeting some fellow local members and will see if I can glean more about the bike from Zwarts.

Cheers guys

Ride safe 🏍💨

Am getting mixed messages from the dating officer regarding this machine.

there is an old ebay ad that states:
"THIS FULLY RESTORED GENUINE AJS CLASSIC HAS THE ORIGINAL SERVICE/OWNERS MANUAL,1957 BUT RESTORED AND REGISTERED IN 1998,CHECKED ENGINE AND FRAME NUMBER WITH AJS AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED EVERYTHING MATCHES,THIS IS NOT OUR USUAL KIND OF BIKE SO PRICED TO SELL,RUNS GREAT A REAL USABLE CLASSIC MACHINE,SOLD AS SEEN BUT INSPECTIONS WELCOME."

please keep this thread going if you have anymore info about this machine

cheers

Karol

No Mixed message all I am asking you for is i need a clear photo of the frame number so i can check the records, and that the engine number is not a factory stamped number, as for the ebay message did you get a copy of this information that had come from AJS as this may be of help.

Thanks for your continuing time and effort Roy
Sorry that the frame number photo is not clear, alas I am not prepared to strip the paint off and the
Number I can make out is the same as on the registration document.
