Clutch back plate

Hi guys, the roller cage on my clutch needs replacing but I can't seem to get it seperated, is there any special tricks to this?

It appears to be a late type AMC clutch with unlined sprocket surface. Earlier type had friction inserts in the sprocket surface. The back plate is held to the center by three spigot nuts, threaded onto the clutch spring studs. As they are recessed you sill need a thin wall socket, 5/16in BS, as I recall. The center is badly notched, which causes problems with the clutch releasing. Replace the center, (best) or file the slots & splines for a smooth contour. While doing that, remove the end plate of the center to inspect the buffer rubbers which are important to protect the gearbox from impact loads. On assembly, use the correct split lock washer on the mainshaft. Cheers! Don.
