According to the excellent Matchless & AJS restoration book by Roger Bacon, You have the clutch from the lightweight and singles clutch. They only have 3 springs. The CSRs have the 4 spring clutch. I have had this problem for years, until I finally found that out.
I'm saving up for the proper clutch assembly.

I'd be saving your money for something else. ALL models from 1957-on had variations on the AMC clutch with 3 springs, never 4 springs.
