Thanks everyone... got it now, wondered why only 3 cells in the 6v and 6 in the 12v.. 61 years old and still learning!! all those years of old bike and car ownership and neglecting batteries, I think I did well... I wonder how many other people use, abuse and neglect their batteries? the majority I reckon.

Seems to me AGM Batteries could solve some problems here?

I've been using cheap burglar alarm batteries for years and they seem to work OK.

Paul, you need to read up Ohm's Law for your answer. Power = volts × amps,
Right Rob, exept that this isn't Ohm's law ;) .

Yes, and they seem to last quite well. I might hesitate to use one on a coil ignition bike as all the ones I've used have been on mag ignition.

BTW CPC whose ad that is are a great source for all sorts of hardware, consumables etc, especially as everything is sent post free.

Hi,
The Batteries I had in mind are the ones sold by Goffy. I bought one last year and have
only charged it once, when I bought it. It is not used in the winter. It did not need a charge
when I put it on the bike in the spring. I also bought a 6 volt one from the club spares for the
G2 same result virtually fit and forget. I think Lead Acid Batteries are a thing of the past.

Just to say: ALL batteries benefit and last longer if correctly maintained and charged correctly....Les
