Fork bushes

Post by cherrymetal »

Evening chaps, I've just dismantled the forks on my '62 G2 and have found that the bushes (both the brass coloured ones and the aluminium looking ones at the ends) are quite scored. Can these be changed? They don't seem to have individual part numbers in the exploded diagram in the book I was looking at. I also need new fork seals, I assume these ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400702754481? ... EBIDX%3AIT ??

Thanks in advance!

Both bushes I believe are available from the spares scheme.
As for the oil seals you have found on flea bay, they are nearly twice the price of the club ones!

Worth looking to our own spares sceme first!

Thanks Colin, any idea what the part number of the bushes are? As for the seals, I thought they were 043253? (which are £14.40 plus post on the amoc-parts.com, is that where you meant?)

No idea of part numbers for lightweights, I'm a heavyweight myself :D
If you search the forum for mention of "Christian's Archives" you will find all the parts lists there to download.

I can't help with web address as I now access through dropbox.

Thanks for that, a useful resource! Saved to my dropbox!

Unfortunately though, the Lightweight parts list was the same as the one I'd looked at before, which doesn't break out the fork bushes as separate items. It did however confirm the fork seal part numbers, and actually ebay was cheaper than the club parts scheme.

So I'm still stuck for the fork bushes! Surely someone else has had the same issue? Or perhaps its not really a problem - I may just stick them back together with new seals and hope for the best!!

See what you mean? nothing showing in the parts list? weird? Mine is a G5/model 8 with different forks and they are listed
Try one of these

http://www.amcclassicspares.com/

http://www.andrew-engineering.co.uk/

http://www.russellmotors.co.uk/Classic% ... loads.html

sure I got my phosphor bronze ones from one of the above but G2's have the Francis Barnett type forks so maybe a search in that direction will help if all else fails
