Just wanted to say how helpfull the forum search are. i have brought a Model 8 and retimed it as per the handook but could not get the blinkin thing running ( the chap who was very honest whom i purchased it off said he had it running a couple of years ago).
After a search of the forum i found someone who had retimed his lightweight but after a lot of searching realised that the spark was not good enough so therefore rewired the bike and then all was fine, So i made a direct connection from the battery to the coil and she started first kick !!!
there Must be a small break in the wire from the ignition switch to the coil but still juice was gettig through as spark at the points and plug but not just good enough to start it.
Excellent
Andy

Re: Model 8 Ignition
Hello Andy,
Would suggest you check the connections from the loom into the Ignition Switch.
A plug and socket is used maybe some corrosion.
