I think you may have problems discovering the history of a bike you claim to be a 1957 model 20 AJS, with reg. no. WUY 544.
Discover what bike you have first. Contact the club dating officer. If the bike proves to be 1957, then you know it sat in a shop two years before it was sold. WUY 544 is a Worcestershire reg. no. WUY was issued during March & April 1959, fiftynine Three questions need and answer first. Is the bike really a 1957 mod 20 that was not sold and registered untill 1959? If no, what was the bike an AJS or a Matchless. What model was the bike before it got the earlier AJS mod 20 engine.
The frame number will prove the year of the bike. Only the dating officer can tell you, from factory records if it was an AJS or Matchless and which model. Once you have discovered what the bike was when new, you will be able to contact the Worcestershire records office for its early history. When it was sold and to whom. Perhaps even later details as to when the engine replacement was declared.
