Which carb number ?
Hi all
I need a new float for my pre-monobloc carb ( 1950 Model 18).
I understand that you can buy plastic floats but would quite like to look for a copper one to replace the exisiting one ( acknowledging they may be like hen's teeth). My question is how do I identify the carb number in order to purchase the correct float ?. I've looked on the carb itself and I can see no markings oither than "Amal" ?
I understand that the bike has the original bottom fill pre-monobloc carb which i see from the parts list is part 14-015 with the clip soldered on the top. Finally, is there any where that sells the copper floats ?. Thanks in anticipation of your advice

Can your original float be repaired with solder?
Or did you tread on it?Edited by - tomshayes on 21 Aug 2012 2:52:42 PM

Ok....time to put my hands up......I tried to straighten out the retaining clip ( which was not aligned with the float needle) and which is soldered on to the float as everyone knows, and made an a**e of it !
Result of which I need either a new complete float or at best a new clip to solder on (part 14-014 I believe)

The carb type number should be on the top of the flange. Sitting on the bike its on the r/h side. For a new float I guess the most well know supplier would be Amal.
