harris g80 starting problem

Hello All

I am having problems trying to start my Harris G80 the engine has had a full rebuild and have i fitted a new mikuni vm32 carb along with a new coil and cdi unit and new spark plug.

The engine tries to fire sometimes then at other times will run for a few seconds before cutting out.

I have tried fitting the old dellorto carb and cdi unit and coil but i still have the same starting problem?

I have checked the valve gaps and they seem ok, could it be a problem with the cambelt timing and whats the best way to check the cambelt timing is not a tooth out?

Could it be a fault with the side stand cutout ? Or loose wires in the R/H switchgear, blocked fuel filter .
