Beading colour, Model 18

My machine is devoid of any beading on the panel between the toolbox and oil tank. I know this is available from the club spares department, but should a 1956 Model 18 have black or blue beading fitted? (I know it won't be red!) Also listed as available is 'frame cover' beading, but not sure what this is.

Hello Mac

my 1956 18s has black beading at the edge of the centre panel I think blue would look out of place.

It won't go at all at the moment - except I've JUST managed to refit the front wheel this evening, which might help a bit. Yes, I did centralise the new brake shoes!Edited by - Mckorkins on 20 May 2012 6:57:21 PM

The "frame cover" is the sheet of metal between the tool box and the oil tank, with the hole opposite the carb. intake and the two large head chrome fixing screws with the knurled edge and large slot that screw into the frame post aft of the gearbox running up to the seat front mounting.

In the 1950's you had to have a green plug lead to make your bike go faster.
British racing green being the correct shade.

That's clear enough. So, apart from the rear number plate/mudguard, what other beading is there?

theres beading around chrome tank panels.

Robs green plug lead must have been peculiar to Essex, real fast boys had to have the yellow and red racing cable...AND a red plug cap.

add a pair of mooneyes, and the bike name in gothic script tank transfers, no-one could get near you it was so fast
