AJS rear wheel bearing seals

Post by Rosey »

Hi all,

I am stuck putting my rear wheel hub back together. The bearing seals are totally shot and I cant seem to find anymore.

Bike is a 1950 AJS 500 (18)

My axel is 9.5" long x .5" diameter. The hub has the two bearing with a spacer sandwiched between them. I am mainly after some bearing seals but would love to get some new bearing too.

Any ideas on where I can purchase these?

If anyone has any diagrams that would also be fantastic.

Not sure if this is the same as a 1950 layout but you'll be able to tell from obs of your axle

Thanks Spriddler,

It is a similar set up however I have cotton reel hubs on my 1950. Fantastic cut away though, I would love to see this for my cotton reel, it sure would save me some hassels.

Cheers

Ah, shame. I had a feeling it wasn't the same.

There's an exploded drawing on page 123 of this manual if it's of any help:

Theres exploded view in your bikes handbook.
Seals 2 off pt. no. 010579 are available from the club, you may find them listed as front hub seals though, Try Andrew Enginering for bearings
