Ive just got my first classic G12 1960 Delux.
Ive been looking over it and it has a fuel tap on both sides.
They both go to the carb but its not what the manual says.
I wondered if anyone has any ideas?

Not aware which manual you have but r/h side tap is normally the main supply and t'other is (normally) Reserve.......

Yep, as far as I know two taps is correct. one is main feed and the other, the left one (correct me if I am wrong) is the reserve. The tunnel in the tank creates the reserve area at the rear of the tank. but it's a small amount of fuel that will be left as reserve so don't ride far!!

Your main tap should have a spigot (approx 1 1/2") protruding into the tank which prevents fuel flow when the level falls below this level.
The reserve has no spigot enabling you to use what remains.

If that's correct Peter, how is the 1 1/2" deep fuel in the right side of tank going to be accessed due to the tank bottom being not flat?...as saltbox alf says.

It won't. The l/h reserve tap will access what remains on that side. The main tap ceasing to flow merely acts as a warning.

...so that meens the bike has to be lain over on it's left side to get the remaining fuel from the R.H. side to drain over, but that would only be possible when the L.H. side reserve has been drained, otherwise there would be no room for the extra fuel!

Yes the joy of running out almost and doing the shaky shaky dance to get a few more miles of fuel from one side of tank to t'other.
