Does anyone have a photo or diagram showing how the ends of the centre stand spring fit, and what on to?
I've finally sorted out how the bearings and sleeves fit together.Edited by - nitmoi on 11 Sep 2012 5:18:59 PM

I found this very useful when fitting my centre stand - doesn't come up under a normal search as it is spelt "center"!

Thanks Niagra. That is clean! I took the same shot off a friend's bike last night, in the dark. It shows exactly the same detail as I got already. I cant figure out what the short end hooks around though.

on my 1966 G3 the short end hooks into a hole in the engine plate just in front of & below the lower gearbox mounting bolt Keith

Thanks KSJ I can't see on mine as it is resting on the engine on a trolley. No wheels on yet! I'll check pics of the plates.

Perhaps the side rails are transposed?

Re: Centre stand location
Hi,
I have a 1957 G80S built frame upside down on the bench at the moment. I have the centre Spring fitted, but no engine plates as yet. I have looked at the engine plates and both look to have a hole where the short Spring is supposed to hook into. I have looked for pictures of the Spring fitted. There is none in the post war singles parts section. If someone has some good photos of this fitting of the centre Stand Spring ends, can they please post into the parts section. Having not done this Spring fitting before, is it really hard to gig in later? Cheers

Re: Centre stand location
Fit the engine plates then if your spring is fitted correctly ie long leg to the stand then it will be obvious where the short leg fits ,BUT its still a bit of a stretch.
