You could always use a scraper to take out the high spots.

Its not so much a question of high spots, but of the bush being undersize when fitted.
AMC spares used to be machined to allow for this shrinkage.

I don't think that scraping is an option, as Ken says, the fact is that the bush tightened up on fitting and wasn't reamed back enough on engine reassembly.

Sometimes it's also wise to know limits of skill, I couldn't do the scraping. Ironically, I could've done the reaming, but an ex neighbour and time served marine mechanic and manager of a pump hire depot did it because I thought he'd do a better job.

Delay borrowing reamer as my contacts box of reamers has gone missing! Hope Paul's not reading this, but unlikely now he's sold the AJS. He said his Paint Shop manager had them, but the counter claim was that Paul had taken them home and not brought them back (Paul's the owner).

The sun's out, two motorcycles and neither of them working.

How do you close off a thread when you know it's run it's course?
