Sounds top end to me too, half engine speed. the individual valves operate less times than the speed the crank rotates. easy way to remember is suck, squeeze, bang ,blow, this being the four stroke cycle. but if you are not sure of the noise seek someone who has experience to help you.
It's a long journey understanding bikes and we are still learning too.

As its a SOHC engine isn't it likely to be the cam bearings as I believe they are plain bearings like early Hondas ?

Take off the cover and have a look for gaps / breakages, Is there oil on the valves / camshaft ( should be) only way to find out.

Hi,
Thanks for all the constructive comments and the assumption that I'm a young lad, I now can see why this forum is so popular.


My next quest is to find some form of service manual if there is one.
