Valve Timing

Dear Sir or Madam

I have just purchased a Rickman Matisse Matchless. Matchless 500 – G80 CS/135134 – 47556 – W1S

Unfortunately the engine has been built to a poor standard and the original owner had lost the ‘valve timing’. Would it be possible to let me have the valve timing for both inlet and exhaust cam shafts. This would be most helpful in trying to set the engine up.

You would have to contact the Club Dating Officer. The last G80CS engines were built in 1967 with engine numbers in the 55xx range. G80 engines, which are similar, had numbers similar to the one you give but engines were stamped "G80" without the "CS". AMC engines were not date coded beginning in mid-1963. Cheers, Don.
