I rebuilding a G5 engine dismantled some 43 years ago. The oil pump feed plug (Part No 042044) is still in the crankcase. Should I remove this & replace the "O" ring seal (Part No. 042177) on it? It surely won't have much resiliance & sealing capacity left in it now. I want to do a proper job on the re-build. On the other hand, this "O" ring seal doesn't seem to be available from the Club Spares scheme. What do you think?

If you can't obtain a replacement from the Club Spares Scheme, you may be able to find something suitable from Simply Bearings Ltd at simplybearings.co.uk. They supply a wide range of nitrile rubber O rings and should be able to help if you can advise the section and bore of the old ring.

I would change it, not worth the risk.
