I took the bezel off very easy, I used my cars adjustable oil filter removal tool, its a thick rubber band with a plastic handle, only the rubber touches the bezel, it came of at the second attempt.
work still in progress.

The bezel on my speedo came off very easily using a rubber disc bought to remove stubborn tops off pots of jam (as opposed to jampots) however, trying to screw it back on took forever! The thread is so fine I could just not get it started on the thread. One hour and two cups of tea later it finally went back on. Patience is required here.

Albert you may be right about the theory but practical experience tells me that a bezel that will not come off at room temp will 90% of the time come off after the deep freeze treatment. I used to fix speedos for club members so got to remove a whole lot in the late 80's and 90's.
Never did try 300 degrees F in the oven though.

It may seem expensive but neither you or I could have done it for all the tea in China, Ray!
It's fortunate there are still specialists around with the patience, skills, and spares to be able to do 'em at all.
It's nothing compared with the hourly rate we have to pay the men in white coats to fix our cars and who rarely repair anything.

£65 quid is a very fair price for mending a chronometric speedo which is famously difficult to repair.
Of course if you had taken the trouble to look you would have seen this....

ha ha, excellent, but I used a plastic handle with a thick stout rubber band fitted to it, it is a cars oil filter remover I have had for years, it is similar to the chain type but it worked perfectly and as made of rubber and plastic there was no danger of marking the speedo, I bought it years ago from a car spares
