Depends what you mean by 'badly worn'.
How 'perfect' do you want the end result to be?
How many miles do intend to ride?
Something to bear in mind throughout your rebuild and mentioned many times on here is that a part-worn original component will invariably perform better and last longer than many new pattern parts.

Understood, Marcus, no patronising intended but it's often difficult to judge the degree of contributors' perceptions of 'worn' or 'noisy' or 'poor'.
The prevailing financial circumstances largely influence my perception of whether a part needs replacing or not - with the exception of tyres, steering or brakes!

I have adjusted my spec for the rebuild as I normaly rebuild modern engines and I can be a bit more relaxed with this one as with my Panther 650 They don,t mind a bit of slack here and there. The cams had been left in a bucket of water in the previous owners cellar for a few years, the cam, followers were worn down before the engine was stripped so even with the rust cleaned off there scrap.
