Tea break and thoughts

quote:
Everybody seems very busy.
The only one I remember from my childhood is
She stood on the bridge at midnight
Her lips were all a quiver
She gave a cough, her leg fell off
and floated down the river

Lord Byron????

How did you get into work today Louise? We are under about two foot of snow and all our roads are blocked. Have you borrowed the Mountain Cub from KCB's stock??

A really lovely poem, which lends itself very much to the interpretation of the reader is,

'Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening'

' Whose woods these are I think I know,
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here,
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near.
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep,
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep.
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.'

Robert Frost.

Written by an American in 1922. Lots of explanations of
what the poem is actually about. I feel its a sort of ''class
poem'', that is, the rider is taking a short cut through
private woods, and he (she ? ) is not bothered , but stops
to admire the surroundings. As to where he is going and
promises to keep, who knows ?

Chris.

quote: "who's Leonard Cohen?"

I thought he was the Jewish tailor in TV's "Never Mind the Quality, Feel the Width".

Who cares?

Leonard Cohen these days has a smile on his face-is wonderful for 72{Itma!!} HE has obviously found the answer to "Life the Universe and everthing" {Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, to the young amongst us!!} I too, can remember bits of poetry from my far off youth-mostly terrible anonymous ballards!!- The King stood in Dunfermline town--e.t.c!!

Author; APAG

The bush was extremely hot for days
Beneath a sunny summer glaze
Suddenly there was a roaring sound
Fire was beaming all around
Flames danced up in the sky
Burning everything as they travelled by
They left the bush land sable and bare
Is any thing still alive out there.
