How easy (or difficult) is it to cure or repair (or replace) a kick start that does not spring return? On my 350cc AJS single, Year 1960, AMC gearbox, it kick starts OK but kick start remains (dangerously) low and can only be manually restored to normal position. Is there are a lot of dismantling required, is a replacement spring required?
Grateful for any advice,
Regards

This I have found is one of the joys of the AMC gearbox. The spring can be replaced by removing the K/S cover. The K/S needs to be removed but leave the gear lever on to help in pulling the cover off, the gear indicator needs to come, be careful with this bolt when replacing it, is easy to shear the indicator shaft
