Petrol tanks

The petrol cap on my 1950 G80 fits tightly but if I you continue to turn it clockwise it undoes. Should it lock when turned clockwise? the cap looks ok. I suppose the tank filler lip could wear after all these years. Is there a easy mod if that is the case rather than an expensive repair.

It should lock.

The easy mod and the one I would go for is not to turn it so far!

Alternatively you could try fitting a thicker cork or double thickness.
