Further to my previous request for info on stripdown of candlestick units. Had a look at weekend and it seems likely that if the bottom pivot is held securly and a 'C' spanner is used to turn the ring above the pivot then it can be unscrewed from the main tube allowing the bottom covers to be removed. I dont't want to force anything so would appreciate comments before I start work

I have absolutely no experience with 'candlesticks', but studying the manual it would seem you are doing the right thing. Ie. hold the bottom in the vice with something wedged in the slot to prevent it closing, undo the serrated ring with a 'C' spanner. Reverse unit in vice, unscrew the bottom pivot (now at the top) remove serrated carrier ring, dowel and locking ring to the damper tube, remove cover and spring.

Thank you Biscuit for your reply. It is appreciated as I understand that these units were only made for a few years and there are probable not many members who may have worked on these.
