AJS Neck Bolt size

Post by AJSFinland »

Hello,

I am new on forum and hailing from Finland. And a proud owner of a 1952 500cc ghardtail AJS

Could somebody please give me a fast answer for the neck bolt size? 1" or 7/8.

I am not able to measure it right now, but I have a nice front end I could get.

cheers

Jussi

I assume you are now talking about the steering stem that attahes the forks to the frame? They are all the same size, but there are two sizes of fork leg,but they will all fit any frame, its wheels and brakes that are different,
I don`t have one here to measure exactly sorry, likeliest 1"

Hi Jussi (same name as one of my favourite tenors) Didn't know they were all the same size or I would have answered before, if they are as the Wiltshire Wizard says, then the thread is 1"x 26TPI.

Incidentally, 'Rigid' not 'Hardtail' only Don is allowed Americanisms.

Happy screwing!!Edited by - Biscuit on 14 Jun 2007 3:27:16 PM

Rule one Jussi, never trust an "expert"!!!
and we are assuming the nice front end is an AMC one?
The demon Alan has sown doubt in my mind now
I`m sure they are all the same size stem, but its always wise to double check, in any case all the teledraulic forks will fit any Matchless/AJS which which originally mounted teledraulics, or girder forks.
No chops here please unless pork or lamb,
Spriddler will settle for cat cutlets, stuffed
