Seat for Matchless G2 fitting problem

Post by DRC »

The seat i have on my Matchless G2 1960 does not fit up to the tank, there is a 3" gap between front of the seat and the rear of the petrol tank, i have noticed that other G2 seats have the locating forks at the front of the seat facing downwards, my seat has them facing forward. The seat will push up to the bolt on the frame but leaves this gap, if the location on seat pushed down onto the frame i think this would sort problem out, does the seat i have fit another model? the 2 bolts at the rear do locate correctly through frame so i am a bit confused with this, anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Early G2'shad a different seat and tank, these early seats are longer and fit snug to the earlier smaller tank.

Is the tank secured at the back with a bolt screwed into the frame with rubbers or does it have a T shaped bolt that goes through the frame?

Hi Dodger

The tank is secured at the back by a bolt that goes through the frame and has a nut on the other end, guess this is not the original fixing.

You have an early tank so you need the longer seat.
