Bristol Area AJS 250 Lightweight

Post by jeremyparrott »

Hi all and thank you for accepting me into the group. My partner and I are about to inherit a 1964 250cc AJS lightweight, which is in 3 boxes and has been for years. Now, I have some knowledge of modern bikes and my partner has worked on helicopters in the army. However when it comes to anything "non modern" we are pretty limited in knowledge , but very keen to learn. I also want to avoid the AJS moving in boxes from one garage to the next and remain in boxes for years. We want to put a deadline on the build so we can ride it back down to my partners parents house.
So my question is, are there any members who would be available to come over to our house in Bristol and be bribed with beer/tea/cake to offer any rebuild advice. We could even have a project lightweight mini party, there is room on the drive if people wanted to come on bikes.
I then need to work out how to register the bike as well.

So not too big an ask :) , thanks for reading, all the best Jeremy
