Here You see the box as it looks in my bike. For the Hose I used a pice of radiator hose from an old Hanomag. Instead of the original felt filter insert I use a filter from Ford, Escort/Fiesta/Orion. Good luck! Ib

Beautyful :D I once read in at motorcyle magazine-G12-test where the writer ended the article with this: " The bike remained remarkable clean!" Ib

Thank you so much Ib-Dk, that's very helpful information. If space hadn't been so congested, I would have proposed outlet taken at the inner wall, enabling a circular filter element to be fitted. Strangely, the 1963 air filter housing presented by Paul Allen and McBob looks completely different, although the oil tank and frame is of identical shape, as far as I know. The D-shaped air filter housing is shown by Stan Palmer as well.

I received an air filter from Spain which supposedly came off a 1966 G3. It has a kidney-like shape. Height and location of pipe outlet matches dimensions in your sketch, height is 63 mm however, which suggests it came off an older model.

Please allow two questions,
* Did you fit the air filter along with the tucked-in oil tank, or is this impossible? The tucked-in oil tanks appeared for the 1966 model year.
* Length of outlet pipe is missing in your sketch. I believe the stub is rather short. While Paul's air filter housing has a kinked pipe, yours appear to be straight.

Hej Knut
My oil tank is exactly as in the black G12 in this topic (the bike is 1965)
If you remove the top bolt from the oil tank it is possiple to acces the filter area by bending out the tank (You dont have to remove the oil hoses)
Yes the pipe is rather short (dont have the measurement now)

Hi Les, did you use cup and cone bearings in the headstock, or did you switch to radial ball bearings?
In case of the latter, how long is tube between the beariings?
Stock cup-and-cone angular bearings are perfectly adequate, and much, much better than those soft bearing races AMC provided for the Teledraulic forks. They do share the same disadvantage of being a PITA to assemble.
