16MS 1954 Rear transfer position

Can a kind soul please confirm if the AJS transfer goes above or below the joint of rear mudguard.

If you have the Bacon restoration book take a look at page 32, I believe it shows it above but its not that clear. On page 172 it is clearly above in 1956.
