I have a model 16 1956 AJS, can any body help me dismantle the leg, mainly how to hold the leg to unscrew bottom pivot.

Even with the correct tools they can be a swine. Ali to ali with decades of corrosion will lead to stripped threads and then they are useless. I've had some in buckets of diesel for over 2 mths and still they will not come apart. Others that look like they've been dredged up from a Loch came apart easily, luck of the draw.
