I have recently purchased G11 - new total rebuild. My problem is that I have a gammy right knee and find it extremely difficult to kick over, particularly as the engine is new and tight. Has anyone any experience or knowledge of fitting an electric start on a twin? Any leads would be most appreciated.

A chap in America was making a conversion kit a few years ago, this included a new primary chaincase, if I recall correctly it was for alternator models as it would need a good recharge capability, it was featured in the Jampot.

I don't think there's room on a twin because of the distributor/magneto position. The starter motor needs room and even the engine plates have to be cut down. Have a look at the video:

The chap in America doesn't do them anymore and Alton have no plans to make them for AJS/Matchless.
