1954 AJS 18S Cyprus export (frame decode says 1954 but many components match a 1955).

There's something wrong here, those aren't 012977, they are from pre '55 with double lugs for 2 stays. Are your stantions 1 1/8" or 1 1/4"?

They are 1-1/8" stanchions which I presume indicates 1954 which is part number 021399dave16mct wrote:There's something wrong here, those aren't 012977, they are from pre '55 with double lugs for 2 stays. Are your stantions 1 1/8" or 1 1/4"?

however, comparing the bottom of each slider I can see they are different , can anyone assist with determining which is a 021399 and what the other one is ? thx

Hi
I wouldn't consider trying to repair that damage - ascertain the part number of the good slider and source a matching replacement.
Struggling to see how that damage even occurred
Regards Mick

The broken slider is correct the other has had welding work around the mudguard fixing. If you want to upgrade to 1 1/4 you will need top and bottom fork crown fork top bolts the stanchions fork springs and if i remember correctly when i did it you will need the spring covers and the bit that screws into the slider. Obviously you need the sliders and caps. I would not bother. (I was ugrading my forks to coe with a double adult sidecar)

Are they both the same model? The one on the left looks wider and longer so is it a different year or spec?
