Matchless G3L - Fuel Lines

Post by phenry »

Hello, I have always wondered about the fuel lines for a 1941 WD.
I am not using the standard Amal carb and not sure how I route the fuel lines to the carb.
Please let me know how I can create a union for the taps or if there is a definite technique to it.
Any thought or suggestions would be extremely helpful

I'm not really sure what you want to know.
You have two other AMC bikes so don't they help you to determine how to do the piping?
If you are asking for details of the correct fuel lines (for the 1940's) I don't know. I suspect all pipes were steel (copper was scarce during the war years). You may find a photo if you search in the 'Photos' section of this website.

Here's the detail from page 26 of the 1941 Spares List:

Only you know what carb you have but if it helps here's one way of connecting a Monobloc carb to the two tank taps......

Should be quite simple using rubber pipe instead of copper as with WD seen in pic below.

Thank you so much for the information. I think it is best to use a rubber line as the original ones are too complicated to be replicated.
