Matchless G3L - Teledraulic Fork Spacing Query
Hello,
I was fixing the Teledraulics on the Matchless G3L and there is considerable space between the Fibre Bush and the Fork Slider with Oil Seal.
Please check the attached image for reference.
Just wanted to know if this is designed this way or if the bush is supposed to be in place using a Circlip?
Please advice
Regards
PHenry

Have you referred to the manual, which shows all the parts. Page 65 onwards. Hit the + button to enlarge.

The oil seal fills the space and it is all held in place by the slider extension.

Thanks everyone.
I just realized that I have been fixing the oil seal in the groove of the slider as shown in the pic. I now understand that the oil seal sits on the rim and not in the groove.
I presume that the space as marked in the pic will be empty
The manual also tells about a paper washer. What material is used here
Regards

On pages 110 and 111 in the manual (link below) it says that the paper washer (item 9 in the drawing) is only used with the leather oil seal (i.e. it's not used with the rubber oil seal).

Not at all clear you have the correct oil seal. If you are able to put it in the base of the slider extension I would have thought it would be too small to fit in the slider. It would also not be held in place when the extension is screwed in place.

Re: Matchless G3L - Teledraulic Fork Spacing Query
It appears to me that, the first photo shows the top of the slider with internal threads and the gap/void referred to. Looks like the bush is in place. This gap is where the appropriate size oil seal sits, held in place by the chrome seal holder. The second photo shows the seal holder with the shoulder that tightens down onto the seal. I may be wrong, but perhaps the wrong size seal is being offered up?

Re: Matchless G3L - Teledraulic Fork Spacing Query
Thanks John
But as the bike in question should be fitted with 1 - 1/8" forks I don't think an 1 - 1/4" seal would fit into the slider let alone the smaller diameter recess in the slider extension.

Are you trying to install a genuine AMC oil seal or have you measured the OD, (incorrectly, if the seal you have fits into the slider extension), and ID and source a seal of those dimensions?
