I'll set mine to 35 deg to start with; I can always pull it back on the lever and the reset the timing later - I might mark 29 deg on the lever and then see how that feels. I have an Ethanil kit to remove the ethanol and then add octane booster/fuel stabiliser.
I have a BSA Spitfire with a fibre glass tank. When I first rebuilt it had a new Burtons Bike Bits tank made with 15% ethanol proof resin lined with Caswell 100% proof resin but it failed over a winter despite being pumped out so there can't of been more than 1/8" to a 1/4" of fuel. The old tank was then lined with Tank Care Products resin and repainted and refitted. Time will tell....
