The classic looking engine has I believe bevel driven overhead camshafts and at first glance looks much like a unit construction Triumph twin.
Both my sons commute most of the year on their Kawasakis and they simply just do nothing to them except for serviceing/MOTs, but then we all know about the boredom of running dependable leak-free Japanese bikes with their superb brakes, lights, suspension, indicators, leccy start, fuel gauge, heated grips...........

That's what prompted me to buy my new Chinese 'Mutchless' (Herald 250 Classic) but a bit more oomph would be nice as the Mutchless (Suzuki GN250 engine) is quick enough but I'd like something a bit less revvy when cruising at 65mph....

To paraphrase Pharisee I'm not altogether sure I can get exited about an AJS. Now, if it was a new Matchless... (ducks beneath parapet)

The last ever picture of Kilroy was of him ducking beneath a parapet!

I have telephoned three AJS dealers and none of them are aware of a 400 twin being relesed, but I live in hope, it does sound like it would be a good machine
