Engine shock absorber spring
My 1956 AJS 16MS was converted to 500cc by a previous owner about 30 years ago. I see from the parts list that there are different engine shock absorber springs listed for 350cc and 500cc models. Is there any way that I can confirm which spring is fitted to my bike?

Re: Engine shock absorber spring
If it's easy to get the nut on its a 350 spring if bloody difficult it's a 500 one. If you don't hear a knocking noise when you open the throttle quickly whilst on the move it's probably ok.

Re: Engine shock absorber spring
There are no untoward noises, so it's probably the right spring then. I'll prepare for battle with the spring when changing the engine sprocket. Thanks Clive.
