Kick start for a 250 CSR engine

Post by PeterD »

Hi guys, I have just purchased a 1960 250 Ajs with a 64 CSR engine and need a new kick start for it. Can anyone help me with this as they seem very hard to get. Thanks

Either the Norton Jubilee or Ariel Arrow/Leader part will fit.

I think you need to be looking at a S/H one as i brought the last one from NOC and the Ariel club are also out of stock too.

Shame because i now need another my self for my current project.

Stu - how difficult is it to get these made?

Cheers

If the kick start is the same for all three bikes, it seems that we should make contact with the other clubs and see where they had them made and may be a joint venture to place an order.

That'll be no good as it's a straight lever and won't clear the exhaust silencer. A cranked Francis Barnett or James one will also fit.

Terry does list quite a few kick starts. The lightweights have a 5/8th kick start shaft so as long as the spline pattern is the same they would fit.

I brought a really cheepo Chinese honda 16mm lever from a WEMOTO and the only issue was the splines as the shape of the bends matched almost perfectly.

as i am building a G2CS replica ( actually its a G5CS or will be) a trials kick start would not look out of place.

Thanks for the link.

Cheers
