Cigarette lighter on head lamp can????
So recently I picked up a gem of a bike for next to nothing, a 54 / 18s. It needs some work but overall is in fantastic shape. That said this bike as a cigarette lighter built into the head light can... Is this something that was offered as an option or was this a very well executed mod by the original owner?

Fix it until it's broken!
Otherwise how will
anything get done?

I would guess this cigarette lighter is not for lighting fags. It would not had been a factory option, as sat navs had not been invented then. So I'll give you one guess as to why it was fitted.

It's unlikely to have been for lighting an acetylene lamp on a '54 bike.

It was probably fitted to power a sat. nav. ( as I hinted ) I plug a sat. nav. into my cars cigarette lighter socket. Have also used it to plug in a light.

Now there you got me. I was thinking of a proper cigarette lighter ( which, in America would have to be a Zippo ) and not an electrical lighter socket. One could have been fitted by it's original owner, though, as electrical cigar lighters were put into cars almost a century ago, so the technology was available.

Did miss read?? was it really a cigarette lighter like Zippo as Janet thought, or as I assumed, socket type as in a car.
I did have a fag lighter on my Matchless in the 50's. ??? That being the spark plug. If I ran out of matches, take the plug out, get a bit of straw or the likes, stick it in the petrol tank, hold it by the spark plug, kick the bike over. Petrol soaked straw burst in flames to light my fag. Nearly everyone smoked then as you needed a fag paper to set your points gap with. oppps has fags another meaning in the states?
