Can anyone tell me which tank badges should be on my 1959 Matchless G2. Should they have the wide or narrow chrome ring around the "M"?
Cheers

Re: G2 tank badges
The 1959 G2 parts list states 018896 Tank motif. used 1954/60 available from club spares. Also available from club spares 018896 Rubber which fits behind the badge. Screws ( which may need shortening a little ) also available from the club.

Re: G2 tank badges
Thanks Rob,
Are the badges the ones supplied by Roger at MG and AMC, original, or the "slight seconds" as per the online parts catalogue. I'm trying to do the bike as near to concours as possible, so the correct part/shape and size is important.

Re: G2 tank badges
On the subject of badges, I have a model 8 1960 which, as far as I am aware, should have blue badges with a wide chrome edge, that is what I have seen around and that is what is on my bike. The part number in the book is 022520 but club spares shows them with a narrow rim in GOLD??? didn't think any AJS had a gold rimmed badge??
Ideas anyone??

A lot of AJS & Matchless have later wide ring badge because the earlier narrow type was not available. Some owners not aware there was a difference.

Hi Rob, Is that the correct part number for the badge, and is that considered a wide or narrow chrome band.Rob Harknett wrote:The 1959 G2 parts list states 018896 Tank motif. used 1954/60 available from club spares.
