Hi Marty,

Are you sure about the "C cam " being first used on the G80RR?

Hello Id
I am not sure (as with many things) the c cams were first used on the 80R but the workshop manual makes a note of them and I seem to recall contemporary track ? test by Vic Willoughby of an 80RR from the blue'un mentioned them.

I have just reread this and it does not mention the cam, but have finally found the reference in the workshop manual

Having studied a number of marks stamped inside crankcases, we believe these to be inspection marks, where the first number is the week number, the next two letters are the inspectors initials, and the final two numbers are the year number, hence your 3ES56 would week 3, inspector ES, and year 1956. However, the PA44 does not seem to fit this pattern. Using this method of dating seems to show anything up to about 18 months between the date of inspection and the year stamp of the engine number.
