The Klondyke Charity Run
This is the second time this event has taken place, both occasions organised by John Renwick but each time to support a different charity. This year’s event raised £90.00 to support the Midlands Air Ambulance and there seems to be so many people to thank for helping with it. John Renwick for the organisation, including the raffle prizes, Julie Grew for collecting the run fees and organising the raffle at the McDonalds starting point. Brian Slack for selling raffle tickets to the VMCC members, John Durling for repairing Morning Star so the raffle winners could have their rides and the stalwart backroom support team at the NS&CTEC otherwise known as the North Staffs & Cheshire Traction Engine Club who have their base at the Klondyke Mill Preservation Centre and served tea & coffee all day long.

Jampot Road Trial
Our Premier event organised this year by Mick & Ruth Leach, has now been completed and very much enjoyed by all of those who took part, how could you not enjoy that? Because that’s about as good as it can get. The results have already been published in a stop press news email but just in case you missed it here they are again: -

A The outright winner of the Jampot Road Trial riding a bike of the marque was Richard Gaunt & Melanie with 30 points, they will win our Premier annual award the Jampot Trophy and replica, they were closely followed by Dave & Lynn Read and John Grew in equal 2nd & 3rd place with 27 points each.

Andy & Linda Smith achieved the highest score of the day with 32 points riding a Norton/Watsonian sidecar outfit, they will win the sidecar award.

John Hallam won a meal for two from the proprietor of the lunchtime stop for having in the opinion of the head chef (who rides a Kawasaki) the best bike there on the day.

I would like to thank on your behalf Mick & Ruth Leach for all the hard work they put in together, working out the trial and giving me the chance to enjoy it as well, by sort of taste testing, before you all got to try it on the day, well done both.

East Midlands Oil Supply Company

Runs & Rallies.

Saturday April 23rd 2011-St Georges Day Run
A new event for this year but one that will almost certainly be repeated in the future. Its organised by Phil Bannister who has already proved he can organise a thing in a brewery. The start will be from The Salt Box Café at the junction of A511 Station Road and A516 Derby Road. The Salt Box Café does a very good full English breakfast and many other things it also has a toilet. Please be ready to leave by 10:00 am after your breakfast. Phil has said that because the theme for the run is St Georges Day suitable regalia would be appreciated, used together if possible with English Bred Steeds to slay the eventual Dragon probably a Honda 125.
