March Section Notes

Post by Eric »

The East Midland’s Frostbite run organised by Andy and Linda Smith on Sunday 20th February was BRRRRR-ILLIANT! A coffee stop after 1 ½ hours was followed by lunch at the Queen’s Head which finished off a very refreshing 60 mile jaunt round south Leicestershire country side and for once the weather was not too cold.

This was followed on Wednesday 22nd March with Don and Cath Sales Bits in the Bag night this created a lot of frenzied fumbling and head scratching, what with such exotica as a G45 brake plate, a clip from a GP carb to the by now usual oddballs as a lemon zester and a bottle “corkette” it all made for a very entertaining evening.

Apart from another Noggin and Natter in March the only event to come is Eddie Grew’s table top trial on 30th. April on the other hand is a different matter with John and Eddie Grew giving a talk and slide show of their experiences in racing a pre-war Sunbeam on the 13th, a run out to the Klondyke steam show on Saturday 16th is followed on the Sunday 17th with our premier road event of the year, the Jampot road trial organised by Mick and Ruth Leach, on Easter Saturday Phil Bannister is organising a St. Georges Day run, Sunday is not quite a day off as the unmissible Stafford show is on that Saturday and Sunday and the whole weekend would not be complete without a band of supporters cheering on Andy and Chris Smith as they charge up the Easter Monday Red Marley hill climb – Phew!

Matt Dillon.
