Good Morning I have purchased a few manuals from national motorcycle museum , and I still cant find what oil grade to use on my ajs ,

bike is a ajs 350 h6 1927 , looking for engine oil grade and gear box

Its in the Pitmans book of the AJS 1927 or 1929 editions ( workshop manual. )
Castrol R for OHV engines.
Castrol XL for gearboxes

As a member of the club Colin, I am the clubs prewar officer here to help you. Have you ever made contact with me. Or did you go to the National M.C. museum for help before joining the club. You could had easily saved your first years membership fee had you made contact with me. You will see me listed in Jampot magazine e-mail contact address: prewar@jampot.com
It is also better to contact me direct, I may not see a forum posting.

He used to go nuts when questions about oil were posted!
It was a well known way of winding him up.
Eventually he left the forum (and the club?) in disgust.
